Finnish design

Our collection is designed with inspiration from Finnish nature. Therefore, our fabrics are timeless and versatile, suitable for both home and public environments.

In the design process, we focus on highlighting the fabric's vibrant texture, velvety softness, wool authenticity, linen coarseness, natural colours, pattern harmony and colour luster. These qualities create a genuine feeling and expression in the fabric. It is the magic that textiles bring to a room, making it alive, inviting, cosy and personal. We consider this already in the design phase to ensure that the chosen fabric remains beautiful and durable both in the home and in public spaces.

Eco-friendliness is an important part of our design, as we choose sustainable, chemical-free and as natural materials as possible for our fabrics.

Annala fabrics carry both the (Avainlippu) Key Flag as proof of Finnish manufacturing and the Design From Finland label as proof of Finnish design.

Manufacture of fabrics

We want to preserve our unique know-how in Finland and safeguard the traditions of the Finnish textile industry. Annala is the only Finnish company that manufactures furniture fabrics. Our production takes place only in Finland, now and in the future. We are a domestic brand for Finns and a Finnish brand internationally, where our own production and strong craftsmanship can be trusted. We are proud of our domestic manufacturing and our over 100-year-old roots.

New technologies

The knowledge accumulated over three generations, combined with the innovative use of the latest technology in both the design and production phases, guarantees the high quality of our interior fabrics.

The modern computer-aided design system also enables the weaving of customised fabrics with short delivery times.

High-Quality Fabric Collection

The quality of our fabric collection stems from both the wide variety of designs and the excellent properties of each individual fabric. The Annala collection includes dozens of fabrics, each available in multiple color options.

Our fabrics, woven primarily with wool, cotton, or recycled polyester warp yarns, have outstanding technical properties and feel pleasant in use. They also meet the latest fire safety standards. Our long-standing weaving expertise ensures high quality—something that cannot be achieved by computers alone, as a great deal of craftsmanship is still involved. In-house weaving and collaboration with a nearby dyeing facility form the foundation for consistent quality and reliable delivery.

Excellent Service

We can often deliver the ordered fabric directly from stock on the same or next business day. Delivery times for special fabrics are approximately 3–5 weeks. We design custom-made fabrics for client projects in cooperation with architects, designers, and clients, based on current needs, quality and color specifications, and fire safety standards. We are also able to produce small special batches—feel free to ask for more details.

If desired, we can also provide complete interior design solutions, including carpets, bedspreads, and curtains tailored to the chosen fabrics and delivered directly to the site.

Annala fabrics are suitable for a variety of applications, including upholstery, bedspreads, headboards, cushions, and acoustic panels. We offer an in-house sewing service for completing even small-scale projects.

A large portion of our upholstery fabrics are used in demanding, custom-designed public interiors such as hotels, restaurants, ships, and theaters.

Some of the most notable recent projects using our fabrics include the wall and ceiling coverings of the Finnish Parliament House, VR-Group (Finnish Railways), and several of Finland’s major hotel chains.

Among our more than 1,000 customers are furniture manufacturers, furniture retailers and upholsterers, architectural and design offices, as well as vehicle upholsterers.

Customer Projects and Custom Fabrics

If you’re planning a project that requires upholstery and interior fabrics with a unique touch, high quality, water washability, fire safety, or a woven fabric tailored specifically for the site, then Annala is your first choice to make it happen.

  • Many of our fabrics can be customized by changing the yarn color and material; the minimum order for such special fabrics is around 5–50 meters.
  • The delivery time for special fabrics is approximately 3–5 weeks.
  • We can weave fire-safe (SL1) versions of our fabrics by changing the yarn material.
  • We also design and manufacture completely new fabrics based on the customer’s needs and preferences. Depending on the pattern, material, and color, the minimum order is about 20–150 meters.
  • You will have the full expertise and craftsmanship of Annala at your disposal, resulting in a fabric that meets all specifications and maintains high quality.
  • Our computer-controlled jacquard loom precisely replicates the designed and drawn pattern into the desired weave. The customer will receive the first woven fabric samples within about a week.
