Environmental responsibility

At our factory in Lapua, where our entire production is, we have changed our heating system from oil to renewable Finnish bio-energy woodchip, just over ten years ago. All the electricity we use has been produced with 100% hydropower for the last three years. Our factory also heats up with heat from machines and all the fabric edge waste coming by weaving as a by-product we can use them for heating. Cardboard and metals are recycled, and lighting has become almost entirely LED lights over the past few years.

The aim is to manufacture the fabrics from materials that are so good quality that they don’t require glue or mass bases. We avoid adding after-treatment chemicals and therefore do not use flame retardant or use dirt repellency treatments in our fabrics, only by special requests. Our materials have Bluesign and Oeko-Tex standard, and since our yarns come a few days from Europe, there are no need for mold protectors on our yarns either.

All our yarns have the following certificates:
Öko-Tex: which ensures that there are no harmful pesticide, heavy metal or formaldehyde residues in the product.
Bluesign: which allows the consumer to rely on the responsible use of materials and the environmental friendliness and safety of the production process.
In addition to these, our woollen yarn supplier has the following certificates:
Mulesing-free: Sheep from which wool is collected have not undergone a painful mulesing procedure.
REACH (abbreviation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals): Only chemicals approved and registered in the European region are used.
R-W-S (responsible wool standard certified) ensures that wool comes from responsible farmers who take into account the well-being of sheep, workers and soil.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): Certificate of textile eco-friendliness and ethics. The certificate takes into account the entire life cycle, from the cultivation of the raw material to the final product.
ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, 50001: Product quality, environment and energy management certificates.
