Joanna Laajisto
Joanna Laajisto is a Finnish interior architect and designer, and the founder of Studio Joanna Laajisto, a boutique design agency based in Helsinki. Established in 2010, the studio specializes in commercial interiors—ranging from hospitality and retail to workplace design—as well as product and concept design.
Guided by principles of functionality, quality, and aesthetics, Laajisto’s work emphasizes timeless, meaningful design rooted in sustainable values and a deep understanding of human behavior.
Joanna began her career on the West Coast of the United States, earning her degree in interior architecture and working with renowned international firm Gensler in Los Angeles, where she was involved in large-scale commercial projects. She is also a LEED-accredited designer, bringing expertise in environmental and energy-efficient design to her practice.
In 2018, Laajisto was honored as Interior Architect of the Year by the Finnish Association of Interior Architects. Beyond interiors, she designs products and furniture for the consumer market, such as the award winning Ihana light system for Spanish Marset in 2021, Bobo sofa and lounge chair for Hakola as well as a line of rugs for Finnish brand Roots and Airisto furniture series for Made by Choice and Centenniale table for Nikari.
